Longitude's Best of 2003

There's a whole lot of reading to do… Check out Longitude.com's Best of 2003 Did you like any of these titles? I'll admit I haven't read any of them. But the ones that pique my interest the most are Monster of God: The Man Eating Predator in the Jungles of History and the Mind, by David Quammen Stolen Figs, And Other Adventures in Calabria by Mark Rotella and Jan Morris's latest, The World: Travels 1950-2000 But those books will definitely have to get to the back of the line. I'm still going through all the gambling books I bought in Vegas.

Don't forget you gotta read The Best American Travel Writing 2003, this one edited by Ian Frazier. There really are a lot of terrific stories in these books, though thus far I've found the trips written about not as accessible to the ordinary traveler as those in Travelers' Tales. Still good though, and there's always something to learn from a great piece, whether or not you'll ever go to the same destination.

Just, just picked up Monster of God from the library. Can't wait to start. Yes, James, reading enables one to travel in mind also, and that can be quite a learning experience. I've enjoyed Ian Frazier's books.
