I Think We Need To Party!

My stress is showing. People are looking at me funny. I'm barking at Rolf in comments sections. I'm having bad dreams and begging a Canadian to meet me in Vegas. Well, that's nothing new, I invite most men to join me in Vegas. Larry laughs that I measure a man by the his willingness to meet me in Vegas at the drop of a hat. No one has ever said yes. Clearly someone needs a little something something...Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about A MOJITO! As I reeled out a mile long To-Do list to Tara this past weekend, she gracefully reminded me to celebrate the release of Whose Panties Are These? as well as work my ass off. Duh. So, lets have a party. I want Mojitos. And I don't want to drive home. WHAT: CELEBRATION OF ANOTHER FUNNY TT BOOK WHERE: Orbit Room (On Market Street up from Get Lost at Market & Guerrero) WHEN: Right after the Get Lost event, so come to the event, too! DATE: Monday, September 13th BRING: Money for your own drinks. Sadly, I can't fund this. But maybe I'll buy some apps for all that come....yes, I can at least do that much. Back to Vegas. I am trying to go next week because I smiled my way into a few sidebars for Lonely Planet's The Best of Las Vegas. (Thank you, Nystrom) So, if anyone is road trippin there this weekend or wants to share some gas, give me a hollar. I'm free Saturday - Tuesday.

    I'll be in Vegas on 9/12 for a concert. Not sure of specifics (how I'm getting there, who's going with, when I'll be there) but I'll be there that Sunday, and maybe the Friday and Saturday before. Might ye be there then?

    I'll be in Vegas on the 23rd celebrating my birthday, but I'm stuck weathering out Hurricane Frances this weekend. =(

    What? No mojitos on the 9th at Easy Going Travel on Shattuck? ;) That's where I'll be catching the Panties (sound so scandalous, doesn't it?)...and hey, I'm always up for lovely, refreshing MOJITO. Maybe we can make it happen twice in a week, Jen.

    Johanna, absolutely! There is a cool tapas/with bar place that we usually go to after Easy Going. If we have a small amount of people, I'd like to go there. Their Mojitos are small, but it's a swank atmosphere that makes me feel civilized and I love it. If we have a hoard of people we can find another venue. But yes, drinks after every event. Always. I just thought I'd make an official party night on the 13th for other friends who might just want to come for the drinks. As for catching Panties, I absolutely hate the garter belt toss ritual at weddings. However, I think you're on to something. I'll have to keep an extra set of clean ones and toss them to audiences that are super fun (where I don't think the bookstore would mind.) Too funny! As for the Vegas lovers, I need to go this weekend or not till after the tour. Sorry, Dave and Michelle.

    Aw, shucks. I didn't want you to go anyway. :-( Seriously, tho', I go to Vegas at least once a month, so holler if you're looking for a drinking/gambling partner. And I'm planning to attend the event in San Fran on the 13th, so I hope to see you (and meet some others) there!

    "Swanky tapas/with bar place" sounds pretty darned good to me. I know a few and am wondering which one it might be. Cesars? That's a great place. I'll probably leave my bo behind and will be solo. I'll likely be on bike or foot, so if it's close by, all the better. I think tossing the panties is a fun idea, actually. You made me laugh at that. I too hate the whole garter belt business at weddings (much of that ritual in fact....that's another story) but THIS idea, this is entirely cool by comparison. Maybe you can get Victorias Secret or some other lovely panty maker to sponsor you in some way. I don't know how that would work, but my brain is always coming up with ideas. whirr whirr Have fun in Vegas. I'll look forward to meeting you on the other side. Cheers!

    Sorry I can't make the Mojitos Jen, but... I'll drink a Prosecco in Venice in your honor. Also -- let me know if you need more copies from the mag for your portolio instead of fighting Kinkos. ALSO -- Kevin Smokler... thought I recognized the name. JHU? Vaguely crossed paths once or twice through writins sems maybe?...(I was physics but took classes with Dixon and others)
