Hey Savages, Go Get Your J. Maarten Troost!

imageDB.jpegThanks, to World Hum, I just found out that the new Troost is out! I loved the Sex Lives of Cannibals—Troost's wit is hard to beat. He is F--U--N--N--Y! Here's some info on the new book:
Getting Stoned with Savages:"Troost struggles against typhoons, earthquakes, and giant centipedes and soon finds himself swept up in the laid-back, clothing-optional lifestyle of the islanders. When Sylvia gets pregnant, they decamp for slightly-more-civilized Fiji, a fallen paradise where the local chiefs can be found watching rugby in the house next door. And as they contend with new parenthood in a country rife with prostitutes and government coups, their son begins to take quite naturally to island living — in complete contrast to his dad."
I can't wait to get my hands on this!!! Of course the NYT picked it as a top summer travel read! Read on to see if his tour is coming to a bookstore near you... 6/16/2006 Avid Reader 617 2nd Street Davis, CA 95616 530-758-4040 7:30 pm * 6/19/2006 Queen Anne Avenue Books 1811 Queen Anne Ave. North Seattle, WA 98109 206-283-5624 6:30 pm * 6/20/2006 Powell's City of Books 1005 W. I'm the travel editor at the New Haven Register in Connecticut, and I received this book last week for review. I love it. Troost's witty observations really bring the reader into the South Pacific so we're experiencing it with him. Highly recommend it!

I loved Sex Lives of Cannibals so I picked up Getting Stoned with Savages. I'm about 1/3rd through it. Very good. Maarten, if you're reading this, I know Kathy Fry!
